About
I’m Gia Gambaro Blount and I have 20 years of experience supporting thousands of families as a parenting consultant, Parent & Me educator, and guest speaker. I have worked with children, parents, and families my entire life. In fact, my first job at age 12 was the fun babysitter for my neighbors! Every job since then has involved children and families. When I had my own children, my book knowledge and experience met reality. My two boys couldn’t be more different from one another, and those differences have given me the humble insight that there is no one, right way to parent.
Back in 2003, I joined my first Mommy & Me group where I quickly earned a reputation as a shoulder to lean on and a calm & natural coach who could give practical advice. That same year, I went from being an attendee of the class to being asked to lead the parenting classes myself & I made my move into becoming a Parent Educator. Although I hadn’t predicted this direction for my career, I loved the experience. My classes quickly became the most requested class with long waitlists at Pasadena City College. I was offered the coordinator position for the entire program and eventually was recruited as the Toddler Expert for The Family Room. As The Family Room’s original Toddler Expert I was instrumental in class design and curriculum development for the pilot toddler series which has since blossomed into a thriving program. A career fairytale!
I have a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and 20 years of experience teaching parenting and child development classes. I have facilitated numerous parenting classes, reaching over 2500 families through my work at The Family Room, Pasadena City College (PCC), and St. Marks Elementary School. Additionally, I am an adjunct Child Development professor at Rio Hondo Community College, PCC, and Moorpark College.
I’ve had the honor of being featured as a parenting expert on NPR’s Fresh Air, in HuffPost, and on a variety of parenting and education-focused podcasts including Big Fat Positive, The Family Room, and Milk Minute. I bring a calm, compassionate voice to the common (and often messy) challenges of raising young children.
Most recently, I’ve co-authored a book with Laura Birek, co-host of Big Fat Positive. Our book, Good To Go: A Fresh Take on Potty Training for Today’s Intentional Parent, will be released in October 2025 and introduces a thoughtful, developmentally-grounded approach to toilet independence that empowers both kids and parents.
Earlier in my career, I co-authored the Parent Education curriculum approved by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office and spent over a decade as the Parent Education Program Coordinator at Pasadena City College, where I also helped establish the Family Resource Center. These roles allowed me to create free community classes, lead evidence-based workshops, and support thousands of families with practical, research-backed parenting tools.
Today, I’m a frequent guest speaker for schools, childcare programs, and parent communities, guiding families through challenges like toilet independence, power struggles, sibling dynamics, mealtimes, meltdowns, and raising emotionally resilient kids. My work focuses on helping parents feel grounded, connected, and capable—because parenting doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful.
